ABOUT ME
Hello, Hello....
Here I am doing one of my favorite sports-drinking a glass of Shiraz. The other tough one that I am truly good at is shopping til you drop...lol. Most of you can hear my famous giggle.
Better known as Georgie in the past I now answer to a lot of names. Here in the south, where I currently live in Virginia Beach, it's Georgia and my husband likes calling me Georgiana Marie. Sometimes I find myself exchanging the Canadian 'eh' to the 'hi y'all'.
I've been a writer for too many years to say out loud. One hint is that I've been a faithful member of Romance Writers of America since 1993. I am also a current chapter member of Romance Writers of Atlantic Canada.
Now considered a third career-Romance Author-I am very fortunate to still love working and can't think of a time when it would be necessary to stop unless I loose my two typing fingers. We won't go there right now.
Known as a pantser and loving how the story kinda writes itself is not always a good idea. I have discovered that the hard way. It is necessary to put your thinking cap on once in a while and figure out these determined characters so you don't struggle with a sagging middle, or paint yourself into a corner. You need an outline, baby, and you need a plan. Driving around until you find it (which is usually my motto for driving directions) can take a while. So now I don't feel guilty about staring into space, or coughing up a basic outline.
My ideas germinate from the left side of my brain mostly as a creative hiccup and then I'll research the other threads to grow a story from there. It's usually a regurgitated mess until I hand it over to like-minded writing friends called a 'critique group', who really believe in me, but bleed all over my writing in progress with their crafty red pens (I'm terrible at grammar).
Most days I get to sit down in the early am with a hazelnut-flavored coffee and write something (anything on a white page is good news) which is an awesome way to start the day. I love cooking and trying new recipes, Yoga once a week, and hitting the gym on occasion. Slapping paint on walls or a large canvas doesn't make any difference to me as it still feels creative. Lately, I 've gone manic with a medium called soft pastels. I also get to walk along the beach when the weather is agreeable, and of course the twice a day poop-walk with Buddy, our adorable Coton de TuLear. He is a great companion (along with my southern gentleman) and is happiest when I don't leave my office so he can guard me all day long. He listens to every word I read out loud and one day he might answer me back.
Reading a good book does the same thing to me as a hot brownie covered in praline and caramel ice-cream. Even more yummy when I can have both at the same time. And the last indulgence is movie-watching, Thank-You God for Netflix and senior's day at the Cinemax.
That about sums me up. I live in a great city where I never shovel snow. Our motto is: Virginia is for Lovers, where I have added, and Romance Writing. :)
Back to my work in progress.
